  • How do I know if I am eligible for home aged care services?
    To find out if you are eligible for aged care at home services, the first step is to have an assessment. Assessments are done in person, usually at your own home. Any Australian citizen or permanent resident over 65 years old (50 years or older for Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander people) maybe eligible.   • How do I apply for government-funded aged care home support?
    Step 1 is contacting ‘My Aged Care’ online or over the phone 1800 200 422 to request a ‘home care package’ assessment, for an assessor to come out and discuss your situation in person. You can speak to us, and we can put you in touch with the right people.
  • Can I choose the services I receive, or are they predetermined?
    Depending on your funding and situation, you get to pick and choose. For example, you do not have to use each funding pool if you get allocated domestic assistance funding and personal care funds. Maybe you'd rather focus on help with shopping and errands right now, and you can handle showering solo. You're in the driver's seat!
  • What is the difference between the Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP) and a Home Care Package (HCP)?
    The Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP) provides basic support for people with low care needs, while a Home Care Package (HCP) provides more extensive care for people with complex needs. These services are usually delivered by the local council. HCP funding is dictated by 4 stages of the program, dependent on one's physical and cognitive condition, funds range from $10,000 to $60,000 annually.
